Downturn leads to upturn in sex toy business

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

The recession is affecting everything.  According to prweb.com, Sex toys have become mainstream thanks to the TV series Sex and the City and, with people budgeting for cheaper thrills, stay-at-home entertainment is gaining ground (or so the theory goes).

Of course, eight states aren’t seeing that economic benefit because they have outlawed sex toys.  Those states are Alabamastan, Coloradostan, Georgiastan, Kansastan, Louisianastan, Mississippistan, Texastan or Virginiastan.

Quebecers need instructions for their dildos?

Friday, April 30th, 2010

A court in Quebec has ruled that sex toys sold in Quebec must be labeled in French.  Apparently, there is some concern that citizens of Quebec might need guidance from the manufacturer on their proper use.

Their is nothing in the story about how the people of Quebec feel about the government’s low opinion of their ability to engage in sexual activities without the state protecting them from the dangers of English-only dildos.  If they’re like people in the U.S., they might welcome government hand-holding in the bedroom.  After all, several southern states in the U.S. don’t permit the sale of sex toys at all, but the voters keep right on re-electing the legislators who passed those laws.

Anal vibrator “rendered safe” by EOD team.

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

According to the Tahoe Daily Tribune:

An anal vibrator believed to be a bomb caused the California Highway Patrol to briefly evacuate its South Lake Tahoe area office on April 7.

The incident began around 4:30 a.m. when a California Highway Patrol officer contacted a 60-year-old man in a “No Parking” zone on Highway 89 near Luther Pass, according to a CHP report.

The officer arrested the man after allegedly finding what was believed to be methamphetamine.

During a subsequent search, officers found “a suspicious wire, with an on/off switch” in the man’s front left pocket leading to his anal cavity, according to the report.

If part of the plan of the 9/11 terrorists was to have Americans thinking that every strange object was a possible terrorist bomb, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.  Remember Boston, 2007?

About 9 a.m., “the EOD team rendered the device safe and determined it was not an explosive device.

Is govmt coming between you and your doctor?

Monday, April 5th, 2010

The answer is yes if you live in Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas or Virginia.

According to blackbookmag.com:

Manhattan’s East Side gynecologist, Dr. Scheinfeld, is the first American doctor to sell sex toys in his office.

Even aside from whether patients appreciate it, selling sex toys is illegal in the eight states listed.

I know what you were thinking when you saw the title of this post, though.  You probably thought I was going to talk about the federal ban on medical marijuana.  And, you’re absolutely right, of course.
